Mineral Makeup Application Tips & Tricks
Master's Touch Minerals: Premium Minerals without the Premium Price!

The basic application of mineral cosmetics is simple, quick and fun! Just remember, SWIRL, TAP and APPLY!

1. SWIRL: Tap a small amount of mineral foundation into the lid or a small dish. Swirl the tips of your brush (we recommend a kabuki brush or a large powder brush)in the minerals until the minerals are picked up into the brush.

2. TAP: Now you want to gently tap the brush handle on the edge of the lid or dish to remove any excess minerals and settle what you are applying down into the brush...until you can no longer see minerals on the brush.

3. APPLY: Start out by framing your face, and then work towards the center of your face, buffing the foundation into your skin in a circular motion, much like you would buff a car. Remember, with mineral cosmetics, less is better and you can always go back and get more coverage with thin layers...this will look MUCH better than one heavy layer. Continue in thin layers until you get the amount of coverage you desire. For a finished look, apply your Mineral Finishing Veil in the same way to set your makeup, further minimize pores and give you a luminous glow.

BISQUE CONCEALER: While most minor imperfections will be minimized just fine with the use of our foundation alone, sometimes a concealer will be more appropriate (scars, serious blemishes, birthmarks etc). Remember, As with all of Master's Touch Minerals, a little goes a long way! Using a small concealer brush, or a Q-tip, dab a tiny bit of minerals on the spot to be covered and blend out the edges. Follow with your regular foundation. If you have dry skin, you may want to try mixing a small bit of moisturizer with your concealer to make a creamy concealer cream, then apply. If it is a blemish you are covering, try dabbing it with tea tree oil before applying minerals and your blemish won't be a problem much longer!

BLUSH: In my opinion, this is the easiest type of mineral cosmetic to overdo! REMEMBER....a tiny bit goes a long, long way! After you LIGHTLY swirl your blush brush in the minerals, tap, tap, tap and tap some more! Don't forget your traditional blush application rules ladies....don't start further in than the iris of your eye or lower than the tip of your nose. Smile...right there...the apple of your cheek is perfect! Now, ever-so-lightly brush up and out towards your temple, blending well as you near your hairline. It will look most natural if you are able to coordinate the buffing motion with this up and outward stroke. If you do happen to overdo it, don't fret too much...our Mineral Finishing Veil tones it down and softens it a bit. Practice makes perfect and it does take a little bit of time to get used to how concentrated the minerals are. The good news though is they truly last all day and instead of looking worse as the day wears on, they look better and better...with no touch ups! It really is amazing!

FINISHING VEILS: These are the finishing touch...the wax on the car, the icing on the cake! Follow the same directions as for foundation. Mineral Finishing Veils are also perfect for when you want to be bare faced, but not really! We carry both regular Finishing Veil and a tinted one...perfect for when you have a tan.

RADIANCES: Radiances are for a soft, all-over glow of color with some subtle shimmer to it...and, as with all mineral cosmetics, are quite versatile...they can be used as shadows, blushes, added to lip gloss or nail polish...wherever your imagination takes you! You can wear them alone, over foundation and under a finishing veil, over finishing veil, mixed with foundation or finishing veil, mixed with body lotion for an all-over glimmer of color, brushed on your collarbone or shoulders and where you would "glow" on your face...a great multi-tasking mineral product!

BRONZER: This is one of my favorite and most used products! It's my every-day-use eye shadow for a natural look, perfect for contouring, a terrific substitute for a sun-kissed look without the actual sun damage (apply with a large brush like a kabuki where ever the sun would naturally hit) , can be used as a blush, lip color, added to nail polish, mixed with finishing veils, foundations or radiances for a different look...an extremely versatile mineral! To do contouring, apply VERY lightly anywhere you want to minimize or retract (hollows of cheeks, slenderize the nose, shorten chin etc). Blend well and apply over foundation but under your Mineral Finishing Veil. Remember, when it comes to the advanced makeup tricks like highlighting and contouring, practice makes perfect. You are after a very subtle effect that tricks the eye, not an obvious dark place on your face.

EYE SHADOWS: Master's Touch Minerals eye shadows are the most versatile eye shadow products you will ever use! The big rule here, as with most of our products, is to remember, that they are very concentrated and a little goes a long way! I prefer to use mine dry, as I like a more natural and well-blended look, however, I have a daughter that does theatrical and circus makeup and they are equally at home there when used wet, as they can give you very intense color and well-defined lines as well. The look you achieve is all up to you! They are absolutely perfect for mixing and blending dry, or "painting" on wet in well-defined lines whether it is as an eye liner or theatrically.

For a very quick, easy and natural look that will accentuate most eye shapes well, swirl, tap (and then tap some more!) and apply shadow to the crease, outer edge of the lid and the under edge of the brow bone, blending slightly upward and outward to give a subtle lift to the entire eye area. Too intense? Simply buff some finishing veil over it to soften a bit. Try applying a second color over the area of the lid that you left bare and highlight the very center of the lid with a dot of radiance. Have fun with it and experiment with different looks. Remember, to bring out your eye color, you don't want to match them, but oppose them. For example, if you have brown eyes, purples, greens and blues make them pop. If you have blue eyes, try using shadows that are more earth tones or grey.
